Located in Providence, Rhode Island, Charles Place Apartments provides 200 high-quality apartments to low-income seniors and disabled individuals. Charles Place Apartments was preserved as affordable housing at closing, when Standard Communities entered into a new project-based Section 8 contract and received an allocation of Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTCs) that were used to completely renovate the property. A $11 million renovation was completed in 2016, addressing the numerous deferred maintenance issues and renovating all units and common areas. Residents were not displaced over the course of the 12-month renovation.
