San Jose, CA — Standard Communities, the affordable housing division of Standard Companies, is pleased to announce that Villa de Guadalupe Apartments has undergone an extensive renovation and been preserved as affordable housing for seniors. No residents were displaced during the renovation, which involved upgrading unit interiors, modernizing building systems, and revamping common and amenity spaces to allow for greater use and enjoyment by residents.

Standard Communities celebrated the renovation and preservation of Villa de Guadalupe as affordable housing with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the property. Among those joining Standard for refreshments and tours of the property were representatives from San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo’s administration, the San Jose Housing department, non-profit and community interest groups and national affordable housing investors and lenders.

“The shortage of affordable housing options throughout the Bay Area has been extensively documented and preservation efforts like what we accomplished at Villa de Guadalupe Apartments are a key part of any plan to ease the ongoing housing crisis,” said Jeffrey Jaeger, co-founder of Standard Companies. “We are proud of our ability to provide affordable living options for the next several generations of seniors in San Jose. These newly -renovated, affordable apartment homes are enhanced by thoughtfully designed community programming and amenities that will allow the residents of Villa de Guadalupe to remain active and connected to the San Jose community as they age—and that is cause for celebration.”

“This ribbon-cutting ceremony kicks off a new chapter for Villa de Guadalupe Apartments and its residents,” added Rachel VanderVeen, Deputy Director of the San Jose Housing Department, who offered a few remarks at the ceremony. “Standard is committed to investing in our communities and supporting these residents who make the Bay Area so diverse and vibrant, and we hope to celebrate many more successes like this throughout San Jose.”
