Named Joyfield Rise at Woodward, the project will bring 141 affordable housing units to the 76-acre adaptive reuse development on Charlotte’s North End
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (August 19, 2026) – Standard Communities, a national owner, investor and developer of affordable housing, is breaking ground on a 141-unit affordable housing multifamily community at Camp North End. The project, named Joyfield Rise at Woodward, is a four-story building offering a fitness center with yoga studio, club room, playground and courtyard across 5.3 acres and is located at the intersection of Woodward and Statesville Avenues. Jamestown, the owner and operator, is contributing to the infrastructure costs for the larger master plan.
“Joyfield Rise at Woodward puts 141 affordable homes inside one of the most sought-after addresses in the city,” said Feras Qumseya, Chief Development Officer at Standard Communities. “Camp North End is a marquee mixed-use development where you can live, work, and play without leaving the neighborhood. It is a privilege to build here alongside Jamestown and the City, and to bring Joyfield Living to Charlotte.”
At Camp North End, Joyfield Rise Charlotte will join ATCO Properties & Management’s Kinship, an existing 301-unit multifamily community offering studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments with live-work floorplans and corporate housing options. Kinship is already 95% leased following its opening in early 2025.

Joyfield Rise at Woodward will also join a number of businesses and amenities located at Camp North End, including a mix of office, residential, retail, restaurants and bars, public gathering space, event venues, and a sprawling collection of public art. Camp North End’s office component is home to such companies as Google Fiber, Ally Bank’s TM Studio, and Centene’s Carolina Complete Health. Notable retailers include Tipsy Pickle, HEX Coffee, Surefire Market, Eggroll Company, and Good Postage.
“As we continue investing in the future of Camp North End, it is important that affordability remains part of the neighborhood’s growth story,” said Dana Griffin, Director of Asset Management at Jamestown. “This project reflects Jamestown’s beliefs that creating a thriving community means investing in opportunities for people of all backgrounds to build their lives here. We are proud to play a role in Standard Communities’ mission to deliver much-needed housing while supporting a more connected and accessible community for Charlotte’s North End.”
